Charges dropped in baby shower fight

Charges against a 27-year-old Wilmington man who was involved in a melee at a baby shower last summer were dropped. The three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment lodged against John W. Young last year were dropped Tuesday the day his trial was supposed to begin. Young was one of three men charged in the Aug. 27, 2005, incident in which three people the partys guest of honor and mother-to-be included were struck by an SUV. Youngs brother, Robert I. Young, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree assault in May. In exchange for his plea, a second-degree assault charge and two weapons charges were dismissed. A weapons and assault charge against Thomas R. Wasdin, 30, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were dropped last year. According to New Castle County police, party attendees got into an argument over how Robert Young, the expectant father, treated the mother-to-be.
