Mother, Baby Injured After Collision With Drunk Driver

A mother and her baby were injured when a suspected drunk driver clipped their stroller and knocked them to the ground, authorities said Friday. Miguel Gutierrez, 22, of Seaside, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving, driving without a license and having no proof of insurance after Thursday's collision, said California Highway Patrol Officer Larry Starkey. Gutierrez was being held Friday in Monterey County Jail. Maria Merzon, 28, of Pacific Grove, was pushing her 18-month-old son in a stroller in Pebble Beach when Gutierrez's Ford F-150 pickup truck struck the corner of the carriage. The baby boy was ejected from the stroller and the mother was knocked down, Starkey said. .
