Baby shower became a deluge
A BEAUTIFUL new baby is reward enough after giving birth - but new mums across Australia and New Zealand are loving the Babybuds bouquets of baby clothing their families and friends are giving them as congratulations for a job well done. What started out as a fledgling home-based business four years ago has turned into an internet-based operation with an annual turnover of more than $1 million. Babybuds now employs 20 staff and enjoys 30 per cent year-on-year growth. Mother-of-two Charmaine Papallo started the business when she was invited to a baby shower and took along a bouquet of baby clothes she had made to look like a bunch of flowers. She soon left her job as a commercial lawyer and launched the business. It was so successful in its first two years that her husband Mark joined the company as financial controller.
