Christmas Stockings For New Born Babies
A group of East Texas ladies work 10 months out of the year to make Christmas stockings. The stockings are then given to the hospitals smallest patients. Seventy seven year old Joan Wageman and seventy three year old Shirley Lindsay help make hundreds of Christmas stocking every year. "We work for 25 stockings a month and then we can be finished in 10 months. It takes about 100 hours of labor to turn out 250 stockings," says Joan Wageman. Joan and Shirley along with a group of ladies from Trinity Lutheran Church in Tyler have faithfully been making 250 stockings a year for 5 years. "Our mission statement for our group is that we will use our God given talents to help our community and our church. Then this opportunity came and we said that would be a great community thing to do," says Joan.
