Baby Shower Murder Trial Begins

Jury selection begins Monday in Bentonville in the first-degree murder trial of a man accused of stabbing his brother-in-law to death at a baby shower. Fernando Vega Rodriguez, 27, is accused of killing his sister's husband, Gabino Mendoza, 27, at a baby shower in July in Bentonville. The case is being heard before Benton County Circuit Judge David Clinger. Police say they responded to a 911 call reporting a knife fight outside a home on July 16. Officers found Mendoza with several stab wounds to the chest. Witnesses told police that Rodriguez and Mendoza often argued and that drugs may have played a part in the fight. .
